Zwei Umwelten - with Javier Ruiz

Zwei Umwelten is an audio-visual work that juxtaposes two parallel forms of being-in-the-world. It blends videographic footage approximating human vision with depth scans visualized through open-source software, each granting access to a distinct “Umwelt” (species-specific world). Captured during a car ride through the marble quarries of the Apuan Alps, the two devices reveal complementary perspectives of the same environment. They function as prosthetic extensions of perception, showing what the camera alone cannot see, and stage the paradox of human experience extended and constrained by its own technologies.
