The Unpaired Eye - with Lee Fraser

4K video loop, 18 min., 8 sound channels, mixed-media performance-installation, 2024.

The Unpaired Eye is a collaborative performance-installation by Lee Fraser and Federico Pozuelo. The work critically reuses sonic and visual artefacts from mass media, reflecting on how recurring cultural tropes shape our perception of reality. Drawing on the symbolic weight of the pineal gland—seen as a threshold between reality and representation—the piece combines looped cinematic sequences with an 8-channel sound composition employing techniques from acousmatic theory, psychoacoustics and spectralism, to explore the tension between hyper-visibility and blindness in contemporary culture.

The project was curated by Cripta747, part of The Listeners. Realized with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture, Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT, Acción Cultural Española, and SMET - Scuola di Musica Elettronica del Conservatorio di Torino.
